# Lumen by Talkwalker review

Lumen by Talkwalker is Hootsuite's enterprise social-intelligence platform, combining social listening, media monitoring, visual recognition and AI visibility. Its social research capabilities remain substantial, while Reputation Insider's experience raises reservations about using its media database as a complete record of earned coverage.

Product identity

## Talkwalker is now Lumen by Talkwalker

Hootsuite announced its agreement to acquire Talkwalker in April 2024\. In June 2026, Hootsuite introduced its Social OS product architecture and renamed Talkwalker [Lumen by Talkwalker](https://www.hootsuite.com/newsroom/press-releases/hootsuite-rebuilds-for-ai-era-introducing-wisdom?ref=reputation-insider.com).

Talkwalker's existing listening data, dashboards, reports and integrations remain part of the product. The important commercial change is its position inside the wider Hootsuite portfolio, where listening can connect with publishing, engagement and other Hootsuite products.

Product scope

## Lumen remains broader than a conventional social-listening tool

The current [product catalogue](https://www.talkwalker.com/products?ref=reputation-insider.com)combines social data, editorial media, audience research and customer-feedback capabilities.

### Social listening

Teams can build Boolean queries around brands, competitors, campaigns and issues, then segment the results by market, source, sentiment and other criteria.

### Media monitoring

Online news, print and broadcast content can be monitored alongside social conversations and incorporated into alerts and reporting.

### Visual intelligence

Image recognition can identify logos, products, objects and scenes even where a conventional text mention is absent.

### Consumer intelligence

Audience research, customer-feedback data and competitive analysis make the platform useful beyond communications teams alone.

Buyer fit

## Who should consider Lumen by Talkwalker

The strongest case is for organizations that need substantial social-intelligence infrastructure rather than a narrow web-monitoring product.

Good fit

### Large teams running complex social research

International brands, agencies and consumer-insights teams can use Lumen for large query sets, competitive research and reporting across markets.

Organizations already using Hootsuite also gain a practical advantage from having listening connected with the wider product portfolio.

Requires caution

### Communications teams dependent on exact media coverage

Buyers measuring earned-media share of voice or executive coverage should verify their required publication set before procurement.

Smaller teams and organizations interested mainly in AI visibility should also compare more focused alternatives before committing to an enterprise platform.

Direct product experience

## The product rewards experienced users

Reputation Insider has used Talkwalker directly. The platform gives experienced users considerable control over query construction and reporting, although that flexibility increases the amount of setup required.

Search

### Boolean monitoring can be highly specific

Detailed queries, filters and classifications make it possible to separate brands, markets, executives and issue categories with considerable precision.

Reporting

### Dashboards support complex recurring work

Different reporting views can be built from the same underlying monitoring program, which is useful when communications, research and senior management require different outputs.

Media coverage

## The source count should not be treated as evidence of completeness

Talkwalker's current [data-coverage page](https://www.talkwalker.com/data-coverage?ref=reputation-insider.com)says the product monitors more than 150 million websites, more than 30 social networks and more than 300 review sites. Reputation Insider's direct experience found that relevant publications could still be absent from results.

Direct assessment

### Relevant outlets were missing often enough to require external checks

For reputation work, this makes the publication list itself more important than the total size of the underlying database.

External evidence

### Other users have reported similar problems

Current G2 material includes complaints about coverage gaps and data accuracy. A 2026 Canadian communications practitioner also reported missing legitimate news coverage while calculating share of voice.

**Test the publications that matter before procurement**

Reputation Insider would provide the vendor with a defined list of required national, regional and specialist publications and verify recent articles from those outlets inside the platform. Talkwalker's [enterprise terms](https://www.talkwalker.com/terms-of-service?ref=reputation-insider.com)also acknowledge that third-party platforms can alter the content and functionality available to the service.

LLM Insights

## Lumen now includes dedicated AI-answer monitoring

LLM Insights tracks how brands and competitors appear in generated answers and is included in the current Core package.

Coverage

### Four major AI products are currently documented

Talkwalker lists ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity in its current LLM monitoring materials.

Measurement

### Brand treatment can be compared across prompts and models

Current documentation describes mention rate, position, visibility, sentiment and changes in brand representation over time.

Accuracy

### The product can surface questionable brand claims

Talkwalker markets LLM Insights as a way to identify inaccurate or unfavorable statements appearing in generated answers.

Commercial scope

### Higher packages expand AI allowances

Business includes broader LLM Insights capacity and additional AI-agent usage than the entry package.

LLM Insights makes more sense for teams already considering Lumen for social intelligence than for buyers seeking a dedicated AI-monitoring product. Prompt capacity, geographic configuration and reporting depth should be compared directly with specialist vendors.

Pricing

## Package structure is public, prices are not

The current [pricing page](https://www.talkwalker.com/pricing?ref=reputation-insider.com)lists Core, Analyze and Business, all through a sales-led buying process.

[View pricing ↗ ](https://www.talkwalker.com/pricing?ref=reputation-insider.com)

Core **Custom quote**

Includes listening, media monitoring, reporting, alerts, LLM Insights, AI functionality and unlimited users.

Analyze **Custom quote**

Expands result volume and adds more topics, filters and channels for broader research programs.

Business **Custom quote**

Adds substantially more capacity, historical data, expanded AI allowances and additional enterprise functionality.

Unlimited users removes seat count as one obvious pricing variable, but the public page does not disclose subscription prices or the monetary effect of higher data and AI allowances. Buyers still need a written quote to compare Lumen with competing enterprise products.

## What the company claims

These figures come from current Talkwalker and Hootsuite materials. Reputation Insider has not independently audited them.

**187** languages supported across the company's current monitoring environment

**2,500+** organizations or brands described as users of Talkwalker technology

**30B+** AI predictions per day attributed to Talkwalker's Blue Silk AI technology

**30,000+** predefined models cited for visual recognition across logos, objects and scenes

## Pros

- Strong query flexibility for sophisticated social-listening and research programs.
- Configurable dashboards work well for enterprise reporting across different internal audiences.
- Visual recognition extends monitoring beyond conventional keyword mentions.
- Hootsuite integration is useful for organizations already operating inside that product environment.
- Unlimited users across current packages simplifies deployment across large teams.

## Cons

- Media monitoring should be independently checked against the buyer's required publication list.
- Advanced configuration requires experienced users and can take substantial setup work.
- Public pricing remains opaque despite clearly defined packages.
- Third-party platform restrictions can affect the data available inside the product.
- Buyers interested mainly in AI visibility may find a specialist product easier to evaluate and procure.

Contract and data terms

## Several provisions deserve attention before procurement

Talkwalker's current [Enterprise Terms of Service](https://www.talkwalker.com/terms-of-service?ref=reputation-insider.com)contain renewal, data-use and third-party-content provisions that can affect long-term use.

Renewal **Contracts normally renew for another year** Unless an Authorization Form states otherwise, the published terms provide for automatic one-year renewal periods.

Notice period **Non-renewal generally requires 60 days' notice** Written notice must normally be provided at least 60 days before the end of the current term.

Renewal price **Fees can increase at renewal** Talkwalker reserves the right to increase applicable fees subject to the notification provisions in the agreement.

Third-party content **Availability can change with external platforms** Talkwalker can discontinue affected access when an external platform changes or withdraws content or functionality.

External AI use **Third-party content cannot be used as input for customer AI models** Current Hootsuite rules restrict use of generated reports and third-party content for training or supplying external AI systems.

AI outputs **Customers are responsible for checking generated material** Hootsuite's AI terms warn that outputs can contain inaccuracies and require customers to assess them before relying on or publishing them.

The current enterprise SLA states 99.9% monthly platform availability, subject to defined exclusions. Qualifying failures are remedied through additional service days rather than a conventional cash refund.

Security

## Enterprise security documentation is well developed

Talkwalker's [security documentation](https://www.talkwalker.com/security-practices?ref=reputation-insider.com)states that the service undergoes an annual SOC 2 Type II audit and independent penetration testing. The [Hootsuite Trust Center](https://trustcenter.hootsuite.com/?ref=reputation-insider.com)also lists ISO 27001 certification covering Hootsuite and Talkwalker.

Independent user evidence

## Marketplace ratings remain broadly positive

Current software-marketplace reviews are favorable overall, particularly around customization and reporting. The review base is smaller than for several major enterprise competitors and includes feedback written before the Hootsuite acquisition.

4.3 / 5 G2 137 reviews when checked in August 2026

4.4 / 5 Capterra Based on 24 reviews

4.1 / 5 Value for money Current Capterra rating based on submitted reviews

### Positive feedback

Users regularly praise customization, dashboards, reporting and account support, particularly in larger social-listening programs.

### Critical feedback

Complaints include learning curve, data accuracy and gaps in coverage. These criticisms are particularly relevant where the platform is expected to support formal earned-media measurement.

Current review data: [G2](https://www.g2.com/products/talkwalker-by-hootsuite/reviews?ref=reputation-insider.com)and [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/161487/Talkwalker/reviews/?ref=reputation-insider.com).

Reputation Insider verdict

## Lumen is stronger as a social-intelligence platform than as a definitive media record

Lumen remains a serious option for enterprise social listening, particularly for teams that value sophisticated queries, configurable reporting, visual intelligence and integration with Hootsuite.

Its media-monitoring proposition requires more scrutiny. Reputation Insider would test a buyer's required publications before relying on Lumen for formal earned-media measurement or share-of-voice reporting.

Strongest area Enterprise social listening and configurable research

Primary caution Media-source completeness requires independent testing

Best fit Large organizations running substantial social-intelligence programs

Reputation Insider view Worth considering for social intelligence, with additional diligence required for earned-media monitoring
