GatherUp review
GatherUp is built around a relatively specific reputation workflow: agencies and local businesses collect customer feedback, automate review requests, monitor public reviews and turn the same platform into a client-facing service. Public core pricing makes the product easier to assess than many enterprise competitors, while its newer Review Defense offering introduces a separate and potentially much larger per-location cost.

Product record
Agency model
The strongest reason to buy GatherUp is the ability to turn reputation management into an agency service
GatherUp has been designed around agencies since its early years, and the current agency product continues that positioning. Agencies can manage separate clients and locations while presenting the product under their own branding.
An agency is evaluating software efficiency alongside whether GatherUp can support a recurring client service with workable margins and controlled client access.
GatherUp can function as the infrastructure behind an agency's reputation-management offer. The client can see the agency's branding while account structure, access controls and location-based pricing support delivery across a growing client portfolio.
The client-facing product can carry the agency's identity
Current GatherUp materials describe custom domains, logos, emails and reporting that allow agencies to present the service under their own brand.
Separate client accounts can be managed inside one environment
Agencies can organize locations by client and control staff or client access without exposing unrelated accounts or billing information.
Location volume is part of the agency economics
GatherUp positions agency pricing around volume, allowing the per-location software cost to support a service that the agency can price separately for clients.
Clients can receive access or leave execution with the agency
An agency can provide direct platform access where appropriate or keep review management inside its own team and deliver reporting as part of a managed engagement.
Review acquisition
GatherUp is strongest when review requests can be triggered automatically after a real customer interaction
The core workflow is built around moving customer data from a CRM, POS, EHR or another operational system into GatherUp and then sending a review or feedback request by email or SMS.
Customer enters the workflow
Customer information can arrive through a native integration, API, webhook, Zapier, CSV upload, QR code or other collection method.
GatherUp sends the request
Email and SMS campaigns can automate the initial request and follow-up reminders rather than relying on staff to remember each request.
Feedback can be collected directly
NPS, surveys and first-party feedback allow the business to collect information that would never necessarily appear in a public review.
Public review options remain available
Customers can be directed toward supported third-party review destinations under a request workflow that must comply with platform rules.
First-party feedback
GatherUp treats private customer feedback as useful operating data rather than merely a route toward another public review
The platform combines third-party review activity with feedback collected directly through GatherUp. This can include NPS, survey answers and written customer comments collected through email, SMS, websites or other customer touchpoints.
First-party feedback gives the buyer information that star ratings alone cannot provide
A business can collect detailed comments from customers who may never publish a Google or Facebook review, then use that material for service improvement, reporting and customer follow-up.
GatherUp can track direct satisfaction measures without requiring a public review to exist first.
Current Smart Insights functionality can include direct feedback alongside third-party review content when identifying recurring themes.
A dissatisfied customer can communicate directly with the business, while GatherUp's current Terms still require equal public review options regardless of sentiment.
Review monitoring and response
The monitoring product is broad enough for local reputation work without trying to replace an enterprise intelligence platform
GatherUp's current platform monitors reviews across more than 100 sites and consolidates review activity, notifications and response workflows.
Review sites monitored under current GatherUp plans. The product centralizes local review activity across the supported network while direct response availability still depends on the individual publisher integration.
Teams can work across multiple locations without checking every review platform separately.
Authorized Google and Facebook accounts support direct response workflows, while other sources may still require the user to follow the publisher's own process.
Review and feedback events can be routed to selected staff so individual locations or client teams can act on relevant cases.
Agencies and multi-location operators can compare reputation activity without creating a separate reporting process for every location.
Review Defense
GatherUp now sells active review-fraud detection and dispute automation as a separate reputation product
The most important recent expansion is Review Defense. GatherUp and Grade.us were acquired by Insight Integrity Group in December 2025 and combined with The Transparency Company, bringing review-fraud detection and dispute technology into the wider product portfolio.
Depending on the purchased tier, the platform can analyze suspicious reviews, initiate disputes and examine competitor review activity.
Reviews are evaluated for possible fraud
GatherUp says the underlying technology evaluates more than 170 indicators, including reviewer behavior, timing and linguistic characteristics.
Higher tiers automate review challenges
Illuminate and Integrity add automated dispute functionality rather than limiting the product to alerts and manual investigation.
The product can examine competing local profiles
Paid tiers expand analysis to local competitors, with the highest tier also including competitor review disputes.
AI features
AI is concentrated around response drafting and extracting meaning from review data
GatherUp has added AI across review responses and customer-feedback reporting without rebuilding the platform around autonomous agents.
AI can draft individualized responses
Suggested responses can be reviewed, edited and published through supported review workflows.
Customer comments can be summarized into recurring themes
AI-assisted reporting works across public reviews and first-party feedback collected directly through GatherUp.
Feedback can be grouped around recurring subjects
AI-driven keyword and topic tagging is included in the current published feature set and can help agencies organize larger review volumes.
Integrations
GatherUp becomes more useful when the review request starts inside another business system
The integration model is built around transferring customer information into GatherUp at the appropriate point in an existing operational process.
Current integrations include systems such as Salesforce, QuickBooks Online, Toast, Athenahealth, Mailchimp, Google Sheets and other business applications.
Buyers whose existing software lacks a native GatherUp integration can use Zapier for additional automated triggers.
GatherUp publishes an API library and webhook capability for teams that want to connect the review workflow directly to internal systems.
GatherUp says customers with unsupported systems can discuss a purpose-built integration with sales or customer success.
Buyer fit
GatherUp makes the most commercial sense when review management is a repeatable process rather than an occasional task
Agencies, local businesses and distributed brands with recurring review workflows
Digital marketing and local SEO agencies are particularly well matched because GatherUp can be white-labeled and incorporated into an agency's own client service.
Multi-location healthcare, home services, retail, restaurants and other local businesses can benefit when customer transactions already provide a reliable trigger for automated review requests.
Single-location businesses that want review requests, monitoring, NPS, surveys and response tools in one product also have a clearly published entry route.
Reputation teams whose main problem sits outside local reviews
Corporate teams focused on press coverage, executives, litigation, activist activity or broad social listening will still need specialist media or intelligence products.
A business that needs only an occasional Google review request may find the wider customer-feedback platform unnecessary.
Large location portfolios should model add-ons separately. Listings and the higher Review Defense tiers can materially increase cost beyond the core review-management subscription.
Pricing
GatherUp publishes useful core prices, while agency pricing remains behind a sales conversation
The current pricing page gives buyers a real starting point. The standard plan for one location is $99 per month, while the displayed 2–10 location tier is $60 per location per month. Annual billing is advertised with a 20% saving.
One location with a 14-day free trial available through the current self-service signup.
Current displayed rate for 2–10 locations. GatherUp uses additional volume tiers for larger location counts.
White-label agency pricing is private and designed around location volume and resale economics.
Published add-on pricing
Syncs business information across more than 125 directories.
Annual-billing price currently displayed for review analysis, Review Insights and TrueReview certification.
Annual-billing price adding automated disputes and competitor analysis for up to six local competitors.
Annual-billing price adding wider competitor review analysis, competitor disputes, alerts and dedicated support access.
The Review Defense prices are separate from GatherUp's standard reputation-management subscription. At higher tiers, Review Defense can therefore cost substantially more per location than the core multi-location product itself.
Review policy and AI governance
GatherUp's current legal terms contain one of the clearest anti-gating rules in this category
The Terms of Use, updated July 13, 2026, expressly prohibit review gating. GatherUp requires customers using its service to offer the same feedback and review options regardless of whether the customer's experience was positive or negative.
Customers cannot direct satisfied users toward public reviews while diverting dissatisfied users exclusively into a private form.
GatherUp requires customers to follow publisher-specific restrictions, including sites that prohibit review solicitation.
Current commercial materials describe encrypted request workflows and ready-to-sign Business Associate Agreements for healthcare customers.
The Terms state that users of Smart Reply and Suggested Reply remain responsible for ensuring that submitted information and published responses comply with HIPAA and other privacy obligations.
Healthcare buyers should read the product's HIPAA marketing together with the contractual restrictions. GatherUp provides controls and contractual mechanisms for healthcare use, while the customer still determines what information is supplied to AI tools and what is ultimately published in a response.
Pros
- GatherUp has a particularly strong agency model, including white-label branding, multi-client management and volume-based commercial positioning.
- Core pricing is more transparent than many enterprise reputation platforms, with a public single-location rate and a published multi-location starting tier.
- Review requests can be connected directly to CRM, POS, EHR and other customer systems through native integrations, API, webhooks and Zapier.
- First-party feedback, NPS and surveys provide a useful customer-experience component beyond public review monitoring.
- The July 2026 Terms expressly prohibit review gating and require equivalent review options regardless of customer sentiment.
- Review Defense introduces fraud detection and automated dispute workflows that most traditional review-request products do not provide.
Cons
- Agency pricing remains private, making it difficult to calculate reseller margin before entering the sales process.
- Listings Hub is an additional $40 per location per month rather than part of the core published subscription.
- Review Defense becomes expensive at scale, particularly at the $125 and $300 per-location annual-billing tiers.
- The product remains centered on local reviews and customer feedback rather than wider corporate reputation intelligence.
- GatherUp's AI terms leave responsibility for protected information and the final contents of AI-assisted responses with the customer.
- The independent review corpus is relatively small compared with larger competitors such as Birdeye, Podium and Reputation.
Contract and termination
The public Terms allow account cancellation, although larger commercial agreements may establish different obligations
GatherUp's public Terms of Use state that a customer can terminate by closing the account, discontinuing use and cancelling the payment method. The same Terms also state that a separate written agreement with GatherUp can supersede the public terms.
Customers can close the account, stop using the service and cancel the applicable payment method under the current public contract.
Buyers entering a negotiated agency or multi-location agreement should rely on the executed agreement rather than assume the website Terms determine every renewal or cancellation condition.
The published Terms do not establish one general auto-renewal notice period or refund policy for every paid customer.
Aggregate liability is generally capped at the greater of fees paid during the preceding 12 months or $100, while categories including reputational harm and business interruption are expressly excluded.
Customers have a 45-day period after first agreeing to the Terms to follow the published process for opting out of arbitration.
Customers using SMS and email functionality are responsible for obtaining the permissions required by applicable messaging and privacy law.
Contract terms checked August 2026. GatherUp's public Terms of Use were last updated July 13, 2026.
Independent user evidence
Public software reviews are positive overall, while the external corpus is still fairly small
Reputation Insider reviewed current G2, Capterra and Trustpilot evidence. G2 and Capterra users commonly discuss automation, ease of use, onboarding and support. Trustpilot presents a sharply different picture, although its GatherUp profile currently contains only three reviews and is too small to treat as representative.
What users repeatedly value
Positive reviews frequently mention automated review requests, straightforward review management, agency use, onboarding and responsive support.
Where criticism appears
Some software reviewers have requested additional customization. The three Trustpilot reviews contain complaints about sales or support experiences and, in one case, disputed expectations around review removal; these are individual user allegations.
How the evidence was weighted
The G2 and Capterra samples are useful for recurring product observations but remain much smaller than review corpora for several major competitors. The three-review Trustpilot sample was treated as anecdotal evidence rather than a reliable satisfaction measure.
External review data: G2, Capterra and Trustpilot.
Reputation Insider verdict
GatherUp is most convincing when reputation management is something an agency needs to deliver repeatedly across client accounts
The white-label model is the clearest differentiator. GatherUp combines automated review requests, first-party feedback, monitoring, responses and reporting in a structure that an agency can package under its own brand. Public pricing also gives smaller buyers a clearer starting point than many sales-led reputation platforms.
Review Defense makes the current product more distinctive, especially for organizations dealing with suspected review fraud. Buyers should price that capability separately. At the higher tiers, Review Defense can exceed the cost of the underlying reputation-management subscription by a wide margin, particularly across a large location portfolio.
The legal position is also worth diligence. GatherUp has a strong contractual prohibition on review gating, while AI-assisted healthcare workflows leave responsibility for protected information with the customer. The public Terms additionally exclude liability for reputational harm, which buyers may want to examine closely when negotiating larger agreements.
