Hootsuite review
Hootsuite now stretches well beyond social publishing, combining customer engagement with Talkwalker-powered listening and enterprise review management. The reputation proposition is substantial, but much of its depth sits above the entry plans.

Product record
Social OS
Hootsuite now organizes the platform around four applications connected by Wisdom
The current Social OS architecture comprises Perch, Nest, Parliament and Lumen. Wisdom runs across the portfolio as Hootsuite's shared AI layer.
Content and publishing
Perch covers social planning, creation, scheduling, publishing and performance workflows across connected accounts.
Messaging and customer care
Nest centralizes social conversations and adds routing, automation and customer-service workflows as plans become more advanced.
Employee advocacy
Parliament is Hootsuite's employee-advocacy application, designed to distribute approved content through employee networks.
Listening and intelligence
Talkwalker's listening technology now sits directly inside Hootsuite, with search history and research depth changing substantially by plan.
Lumen by Talkwalker
Talkwalker gives Hootsuite a serious reputation-monitoring capability
Lumen covers social conversations and wider web sources at a scale that is unusual for a conventional social-management platform. Hootsuite currently advertises coverage across 150 million websites, more than 30 social channels and 239 countries.
The important distinction is entitlement. Entry-level Hootsuite access to Lumen is narrower than the full listening product: Standard searches seven days of conversation history, while Professional and Advanced extend that window to 30 days.
Reputation Insider has reviewed the listening product separately. Our review of Lumen by Talkwalker found strong social-intelligence capabilities while raising concerns about relying on its media database as a definitive record of earned coverage.
Review management
Hootsuite can also monitor customer reviews outside social networks
Hootsuite's dedicated Review Management product extends reputation monitoring into marketplaces, review platforms and other customer-feedback environments using Talkwalker technology.
The dedicated Review Management page cites Google, Amazon, Yelp, Facebook, Tripadvisor, OpenTable and Trustpilot among more than 300 supported review sources.
Reviews are aggregated across supported sources
Teams can bring customer feedback into Hootsuite and use alerts to identify new activity or changes in sentiment.
AI summarizes recurring themes and sentiment
The product can condense larger feedback sets into themes that help teams see recurring causes of satisfaction or complaint.
Priority reviews can be routed internally
Hootsuite describes approval and routing workflows for coordinating responses across larger teams.
Wisdom and MCP
Hootsuite is opening its social data to wider AI workflows
Wisdom was introduced in June 2026 as Hootsuite's social-first AI agent. Hootsuite also launched MCP servers that allow authorized AI applications to interact with Perch, Nest, Lumen and Parliament.
Wisdom can answer questions about social performance, competitors, audiences and conversations using platform context.
Lumen results can be condensed into explanations and recommended follow-up actions.
Perch, Nest, Lumen and Parliament can connect to supported external AI applications through Hootsuite's MCP servers.
MCP use is governed by Hootsuite's MCP Server Terms, which place responsibility for connected clients, permissions and resulting actions on the customer.
Buyer fit
Hootsuite makes more sense when reputation work is already tied closely to social operations
Teams managing publishing, engagement and reputation together
Corporate social teams can combine day-to-day publishing with monitoring and customer response instead of operating separate systems for each workflow.
Global consumer brands, agencies and communications teams can make stronger use of Lumen when social conversation and reputation risk need to be monitored across markets.
Enterprise buyers that also need review monitoring can bring customer feedback into the same broader operating environment.
Organizations with a narrow monitoring requirement
A small business that only needs scheduled social posts can buy much simpler software than the wider Social OS.
Multi-location companies focused primarily on listings consistency and Google reviews may get more value from a location-led reputation platform.
Communications teams seeking a definitive earned-media database should evaluate Lumen's required publications separately before treating Hootsuite as their sole media-monitoring system.
The public price rises quickly as listening and team workflows deepen
Hootsuite publishes entry prices for Standard, Professional and Advanced. Enterprise is quote-led and is where the broader reputation products become commercially relevant.
| Plan | Published price | Social accounts | Reputation-relevant scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | From $99/user/month | 10 | Lumen with seven-day search, sentiment analysis, peak detection and AI summaries. |
| Professional | From $199/user/month | Unlimited | 30-day Lumen search, up to five searches for comparison, trend forecasting and more automation. |
| Advanced | Up to $399/user/month | Unlimited | 30-day listening plus team approval, routing and collaboration controls. |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Advanced listening, enterprise governance, SSO and additional data or workflow products. |
The displayed self-service prices are based on annual billing. Hootsuite also offers monthly billing for Standard, Professional and Advanced at a higher effective rate. A 14-day trial is currently available without a credit card.
AI and data terms
Hootsuite's AI terms deserve attention before social intelligence is connected to wider company systems
Hootsuite's AI Terms and Acceptable Use Rules define different rights and restrictions for customer-provided content and third-party material collected through listening products.
Using an AI-powered feature permits Hootsuite to send relevant Customer Content to an AI Service Provider where that processing is required to operate the feature.
The current AI Terms allow this during and after the agreement, while stating that the material will not train a third-party AI provider's functionality or be shared with another customer.
The July 2026 Acceptable Use Rules prohibit using Generated Reports or Third-Party Content for training, in combination with, or as input to a customer or third-party AI or large language model.
The Talkwalker Supplemental Terms restrict Generated Reports and Third-Party Content and make the service dependent on external source availability.
This is particularly relevant for enterprises planning to move Lumen findings into an internal AI assistant or RAG environment. MCP access does not override the separate contractual restrictions attached to listening content.
Pros
- Hootsuite can support reputation teams that already spend much of their working day inside social publishing and customer-response workflows.
- Talkwalker gives the platform substantially deeper listening capabilities than a conventional social-management suite.
- Review Management adds a credible enterprise feedback-monitoring product across hundreds of external sources.
- Public self-service pricing and a no-card trial make the core platform easier to evaluate than many enterprise reputation products.
- Wisdom and MCP make Hootsuite data more useful inside wider enterprise workflows, subject to the platform's data-use restrictions.
Cons
- The reputation proposition becomes much more expensive once the buyer needs full listening, enterprise controls or review management.
- Standard's seven-day Lumen window is too shallow for serious historical reputation research.
- The separate Lumen product still requires source-level testing when earned-media completeness is important.
- Third-party listening data carries reuse restrictions that can complicate internal AI and data workflows.
- Large feature breadth creates unnecessary complexity for teams that only need one narrow monitoring function.
Contract and renewal
Self-service and Enterprise subscriptions follow different renewal rules
Hootsuite publishes separate Self-Serve Terms of Service and Enterprise Terms of Service. The commercial consequences differ enough that buyers should treat them as separate procurement models.
The self-service plan renews at the end of the selected term unless the customer cancels or downgrades before renewal.
Customers can cancel at any time, but Hootsuite's Self-Serve Terms require payment for the remainder of the existing plan term and state that the customer is not entitled to a refund.
Unless the Authorization Form changes the rule, written notice of non-renewal must be provided at least 60 days before the current term ends.
Hootsuite can increase Enterprise fees at renewal. If notice arrives less than 90 days before term end, the customer receives 30 days to submit a non-renewal notice.
Customers purchasing Lumen or other Talkwalker Services should read the Talkwalker Supplemental Terms alongside the Enterprise agreement. Additional Talkwalker products and third-party datasets can carry further source-specific terms.
Security
Hootsuite publishes separate security documentation for the core platform and Lumen
The Hootsuite Trust Center includes independent reports and certificates for the main platform as well as separate documentation covering Lumen by Talkwalker.
Independent user evidence
The review corpus is large enough to separate recurring product strengths from isolated complaints
Hootsuite has one of the largest independent review records among products in this category. The current G2 seller profile also contains separate reviews for Lumen and other Hootsuite products, so Reputation Insider treats the seller-wide rating as broader than the core Hootsuite application alone.
What users consistently value
Centralized scheduling and management across multiple social accounts remains the most persistent positive theme in the public review corpus.
Where complaints recur
Negative reviews repeatedly mention price, support inconsistency, missing or limited functionality and operational friction as account complexity increases.
How the evidence was assessed
Some recent G2 reviews are invited or incentivized. Repeated product-specific observations therefore carry more weight than the aggregate star rating alone.
Reputation Insider verdict
Hootsuite has become a credible reputation platform for companies whose public exposure is heavily social
The Talkwalker acquisition materially changed the product. Hootsuite can now connect daily social operations with deeper listening and customer-feedback intelligence inside one commercial relationship.
Buyers should pay close attention to plan boundaries. The inexpensive entry point gives only limited listening history, while the features that make Hootsuite compelling for a large reputation team increasingly sit inside Enterprise or the fuller Lumen product. Media-source completeness also deserves separate testing when earned coverage is part of the measurement brief.
