CisionOne review

CisionOne combines media monitoring, journalist outreach, reporting and social listening in one PR platform. Procurement is quote-led, and buyers need to verify the exact source coverage, modules and commercial terms included in their Order.

Current product structure

CisionOne is the main PR platform inside a larger group of separate products

CisionOne now carries the core media monitoring, outreach, reporting and social workflows. Cision also owns Brandwatch, PR Newswire and Trajaan, but those names should not be treated as interchangeable modules in every CisionOne contract.

Procurement point The Order determines what the customer actually receives

Cision sells CisionOne in different configurations. Buyers should check the contracted modules, content rights, users, geographic coverage and any separately purchased services instead of relying on the wider Cision product portfolio as a feature list.

CisionOne Monitoring, outreach, analytics and optional social functions

This is the platform assessed in the core of this review.

PR Newswire Press release distribution operates under separate commercial terms

Distribution products have their own agreements and should not be assumed to follow CisionOne subscription rules.

Brandwatch and Trajaan Adjacent Cision products extend social and search intelligence

Trajaan technology now powers AI Visibility inside CisionOne, while Brandwatch remains a separate product family.

Media monitoring

CisionOne covers online, print, broadcast, podcasts and licensed content

Cision's current media monitoring documentation describes a monitoring catalogue spanning digital publications, print, television, radio and podcasts.

Vendor-reported catalogue 3,000+ TV and radio stations

Cision also reports more than 60,000 podcasts, more than 10,000 premium paywalled titles and hundreds of thousands of news sources. Its CisionOne overview states coverage across more than 190 countries and 96 languages. These are catalogue figures rather than a guarantee that every individual source will be captured for every customer.

Historical availability Coverage history varies by media type

Cision's current FAQ lists online and much print content from March 2022, television and radio from April 2023, and podcasts from June 2023. Availability can vary by source and customer package.

Clip retention Broadcast files do not remain available indefinitely

TV and radio clips expire after 28 days unless archived. Podcast clips expire after 90 days. The underlying mention can remain after the playable content expires.

Social history Some monitored social data has shorter retrospective windows

The current coverage FAQ states that X monitoring includes 30 days of historical tweets, comments and reposts. Other social retention rules depend on source and connection type.

Buyers with mandatory publications, regional broadcasters or niche trade media should test those sources before signing. Cision's own documentation states that coverage depth can vary by package and region.

Journalist outreach

The media database remains a central part of CisionOne

Cision currently states that its outreach database contains more than 500,000 validated journalist and outlet profiles across 225 countries and territories.

Database model 500,000+ profiles

Cision says profiles are built using automated collection, third-party sources and an internal media-research team. Its current FAQ says the database is updated daily as journalists change employers, profiles become stale and new contacts are added.

Profiles combine contact data with recent publishing activity

Available fields can include role, email, phone, location, social accounts, biography, outlets, sectors, recent articles and public activity. Recent articles and public activity are generally displayed over a 30-day window.

Outreach can be sent and measured inside the platform

Users can build media lists, send pitches or releases, schedule delivery and review campaign activity without exporting every contact into a separate email system.

Analytics and reporting

CisionOne supports dashboards, scheduled reports and raw-data exports

The current reporting product combines mention-level data with configurable charts and report outputs.

Comparison Coverage can be benchmarked across multiple Mention Streams

The current FAQ allows competitor tracking across up to ten competitors, while share-of-voice comparisons can use up to twelve Mention Streams.

Outputs Reports can be exported in several formats

Available formats include PDF, HTML and CSV depending on report type, alongside scheduled email reports and curated coverage reports.

Integrations Monitoring data can move into other workflows

Cision documents Slack and Microsoft Teams alerts, a REST API and a Google Analytics 4 connection for comparing website traffic with media activity.

Social listening

CisionOne Social extends the platform beyond earned-media monitoring

The current CisionOne Social product monitors public conversations and adds owned-channel publishing functions.

Listening Current public coverage includes major social and community sources

Cision lists Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Reddit, Bluesky, blogs and forums among the sources monitored by CisionOne Social.

Publishing Owned-channel management covers a smaller group of networks

Scheduling and publishing are documented for Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram, with authorization and content-planning controls.

CisionOne Social should be assessed separately from Brandwatch. Both belong to Cision, but Brandwatch is a separate social intelligence product with its own scope and commercial structure.

AI and AI-search monitoring

Cision added coverage analysis and AI-search visibility to CisionOne in 2026

AI functions now sit across monitoring, reporting, outreach and AI-search measurement rather than in a single standalone module.

React Score Media content is classified using multiple NLP models

Cision's current FAQ describes 17 NLP models used for indicators including sentiment, emotion, sarcasm, subjectivity, controversy and related content characteristics.

Coverage analysis AI Coverage Analysis summarizes themes across media coverage

Launched in June 2026, the feature groups recurring narratives and produces suggested next actions based on the selected coverage and communications goals.

AI visibility LLM monitoring is powered by technology from Trajaan

The July 2026 AI Visibility Dashboard tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode and Mistral.

Source attribution AI answers can be connected back to cited publishers and journalists

The dashboard identifies domains, publications and journalists cited within monitored AI responses and links journalist records back into the CisionOne outreach workflow.

AI classifications remain editable or reviewable in parts of the product.

Cision allows manual sentiment overrides for social content. Teams using automated sentiment, risk scoring or AI-generated recommendations should establish their own review process before treating those outputs as final reputation assessments.

Pricing

CisionOne does not publish dollar prices

Cision's current pricing page asks buyers to choose a product configuration and then request a quote. Cision says pricing can depend on users, features and service level.

Request pricing ↗
Journalist Outreach Quote required

Media database access, contact search, pitching and outreach reporting.

Media Monitoring Quote required

Mention Streams, monitored media, dashboards, alerts and mobile access.

Media Monitoring + Social Quote required

Media monitoring combined with CisionOne Social listening, analysis and owned-channel management.

CisionOne Suite Quote required

The broader package combines outreach, media monitoring, analytics and social functions.

Software Advice and related Gartner Digital Markets pages currently display a $1 starting price for Cision. Cision does not publish that figure on its own pricing pages, so it should not be treated as a usable CisionOne price benchmark.

Contract and renewal

The Order Form controls the commercial term, with automatic renewal in Cision's current U.S. terms

Cision publishes several legal frameworks for different products and transactions. Under its current General Terms and Conditions, the Service Term is defined in the applicable Order Form.

Renewal Current GTC require 30 days' written notice of non-renewal

Unless the Order says otherwise, the subscription renews for a period equal to the expiring term or one year, whichever is shorter.

Renewal price The default contractual increase is 5%

The current GTC apply a 5% fee increase at renewal unless an exception applies or the parties agree otherwise in the Order.

Cancellation Fees are generally non-cancellable and non-refundable

Standard terms tie payment to the contracted service rather than actual usage. Early termination rights are mainly connected to uncured material breach.

Payment Invoices are issued in advance under the standard framework

The GTC default to net 30 payment unless the Order says otherwise. Cision's Master Subscription Agreement also states annual advance invoicing for services governed by that agreement.

Check the exact agreement attached to the Order.

PR Newswire, PRWeb and other Cision products publish separate terms, some with different non-renewal periods. Customer complaints about cancellation should therefore be compared with the agreement governing the specific product rather than generalized across the entire Cision group.

Security and data governance

Cision publishes a DPA and specific rules for customer and media-database data

The public Security Statement and Data Processing Agreement provide the main procurement documents available without contacting sales.

Infrastructure Cision says its hosting data centers have completed SOC 2 Type II audits

The wording in the public Security Statement applies to the data centers. Buyers requiring a product-specific CisionOne attestation should request the current audit scope during security review.

Customer data The DPA treats Cision as processor for personal data uploaded by customers

The current DPA includes subprocessor rules, international transfer provisions and a 36-hour notification commitment after Cision becomes aware of a breach involving customer personal data.

Media database Journalist-profile data follows a controller-to-controller model

Cision treats itself and its customers as independent controllers for personal data supplied through its media database, including journalist and influencer records.

Profile rights Journalists can request corrections or removal from the database

Cision's journalist privacy notice describes profile verification, correction and opt-out routes for people included in its media and influencer databases.

Buyer fit

CisionOne fits organizations buying media monitoring and journalist outreach together

Suitable for

PR and communications teams with recurring monitoring, reporting and outreach work

Corporate communications departments and agencies can keep journalist research, media monitoring and reporting inside the same operating environment.

Teams that require broadcast, podcasts, paywalled publications and traditional press alongside online news have more reason to evaluate CisionOne than organizations concerned only with web mentions.

The product is also relevant where AI-search monitoring now needs to sit beside existing media intelligence rather than in a separate specialist platform.

Likely to overpay or overbuy

Small teams that need only alerts, basic press lists or social monitoring

Organizations with narrow monitoring requirements may end up procuring more infrastructure than they use, particularly when a simple web-alerting or outreach product would cover the actual workflow.

Social-first teams should compare CisionOne Social with dedicated social intelligence platforms rather than assuming the wider Cision portfolio makes the CisionOne package the best fit.

Buyers dependent on a small group of specialist publications should also test those sources directly before committing to a larger monitoring contract.

Pros

  • Monitoring and journalist outreach can be managed in the same account.
  • Traditional media formats are covered alongside online news and podcasts.
  • Reporting supports both executive-facing outputs and raw-data export.
  • The journalist database is integrated directly with pitching workflows.
  • AI-search monitoring can now be compared with existing media activity.

Cons

  • No public dollar pricing is available for CisionOne packages.
  • Coverage availability and content retention vary by media type, region and licensing arrangement.
  • Current user reviews still report missing mentions and outdated journalist records.
  • Standard commercial terms restrict early cancellation and provide for automatic renewal.
  • The wider Cision product portfolio can make module and contract boundaries difficult to infer from marketing pages alone.

Independent user evidence

The largest current review corpus is on G2, while other rating profiles cover broader or older Cision products

Ratings should be separated by source because the profiles do not measure exactly the same product. G2 has a dedicated CisionOne profile. Capterra uses the broader Cision name, while Trustpilot reviews the company and can include experiences with different services.

3.9 / 5 G2 · CisionOne 1,354 reviews, profile updated October 2026
3.8 / 5 Capterra · Cision 89 reviews, updated September 2026
1.6 / 5 Trustpilot · Cision 32 reviews when checked in October 2026

Reporting and outreach receive repeated positive mentions

Current G2 reviewers frequently mention dashboards, tagging, media-list creation and journalist research as useful parts of everyday PR work.

Coverage and contact quality remain recurring complaints

Recent reviews describe missing media mentions, irrelevant results and journalist records that require additional checking before outreach.

Commercial complaints need product-level context

Trustpilot includes recent complaints about renewals, billing and support, but the profile covers Cision as a company. The executed Order and applicable product terms remain the authoritative source for an individual customer.

A number of recent G2 reviews are marked as seller-invited or incentivized. Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice also use the same 89-review Cision corpus, so those three Gartner Digital Markets sites should not be counted as three independent evidence pools.

External evidence: G2, Capterra and Trustpilot.

Reputation Insider verdict

CisionOne is easiest to justify when monitoring and media outreach are being purchased together

CisionOne covers the operational path from finding journalists to monitoring subsequent media coverage and producing reports. Its 2026 additions extend that workflow into AI-generated answers without replacing the underlying media-monitoring and outreach functions.

Procurement requires closer attention than the product overview alone provides. Source availability differs by media type and region, licensed content has retention limits, pricing is private and standard legal terms create a real renewal obligation.

Teams considering CisionOne should test a representative source list, review journalist records relevant to their actual beats and negotiate the Order Form before treating the wider Cision ecosystem as part of the purchase.

Primary use case Corporate communications and PR teams combining media monitoring, journalist outreach and reporting
Most differentiated area The combination of journalist database access with multi-format media monitoring
Main procurement issue Private pricing and contract terms that depend on the executed Order
Main product check Verify required sources, historical access and journalist records before committing
